Where to celebrate midsummer in Stockholm.

The most traditional celebrations in the city
Celebrate midsummer at Skansen over three days. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy masses of different activities for visitors young and old. Dance around the maypole, make a wreath, enjoy folk music, dancing and storytelling or just enjoy the leafy surroundings. The market is open and food and drink can be bought at several spots around the park.

Celebrate in the long grass
Leafy Vintervikens Trädgård just outside the city centre puts on a traditional midsummer celebration with dancing around the maypole and midsummer food in the café.

Midsummer idyll
It would be hard to find a more idyllic place to celebrate midsummer than at Herrängens Gård. Take part in traditional celebrations on the bandstand, with raising of the maypole and dancing round the pole. The café serves pickled herring, hearty sandwiches, cakes and pastries, ice cream and hot and cold drinks. If the weather's being kind you can also enjoy a dip from the nearby jetty.

Celebrate at a classic restaurant
Traditions are taken extremely seriously at Ulla Winbladh and midsummer is no exception. Celebrate this year's midsummer out on Djurgården with a menu that includes all the classic midsummer flavours, including strawberry cake for dessert. Guests are welcomed by staff in hand-tied flower garlands.

Midsummer cruise
For the twenty-ninth year in a row, M/S Vindhem will be setting out on a midsummer cruise. Onboard, there will be a prawn feast with unlimited freshly baked bread, aioli and butter, or alternatively, tacos with minced meat and traditional toppings, while the archipelago in her summer plumage slowly passes by. Idyllic celebrations
If you want to celebrate midsummer in the archipelago one suggestion is to take the bus or boat to Waxholms Hotell, where you can celebrate midsummer with a pickled herring lunch, dancing round the maypole and overnight stay. On the island of Sandön, midsummer celebrations take place in Sandhamn harbour at 3pm and onlookers are encouraged to join in the classic midsummer songs. On Grinda island, traditional festivities include decorating the maypole, troubadour music and dinner at Grinda Wärdshus.
