Visby, with its protected location inside its city walls, has many plants that you won't find anywhere else in Sweden. You can admire them, and many more, in the Botanical Garden alongside the beach, north of Almedalen. Relax in the shade of some of the unusual trees, stroll to the ruins of St. Olof and get to know the medicinal plants. The society that runs the gardens also offers a extensive programme including concerts, medicinal plants, and bat safaris.

Gotland Gokart has Gotland's only approved go-kart track, so just hop in the kart and put the pedal to the metal. There are karts for all ages and everyone receives a record with their exact lap times.

This cinema shows a mix of films ranging from old classics to the latest from SF Studios and Hollywood. In addition to movies, visitors can also enjoy live opera concerts and rock concerts. Slitebio is run by a non-profit organisation that aims to enhance the cultural life in the area.

Fårö island is just north of Gotland, accessible by regular car ferry. Visit Fårö Pottery, a place that welcomes anyone who wants to learn about pottery and enjoy the calm and peaceful surroundings for a while. You can also have coffee and enjoy locally produced food from the garden, as well as buy souvenirs from the farm shop. A perfect day trip!

Learn more about the history of Gotland when you visit Bunge museum in Fårösund in northern Gotland. There's something for everyone here, adults and children alike. Thousands of bathers gather every summer in an old limestone quarry in northern Gotland to splash about in the turquoise, crystal-clear water. The bathing spot is aptly named – the Blue Lagoon – and is best accessed by car. It takes about 50 minutes to drive there from Visby.

Action Club is both a gym in Lärbro and a rental service for equipment for various action-packed sports, mostly on water. You can rent equipment and go on your own or join various full-day and half-day excursions, either in open events or with a booked group.

In Fårösund, there's a large trampoline park where children (and adults for that matter) with energy to burn can jump, bounce and do tricks. The local association also organises courses.

Tingstäde lake is a shallow lake, only 1.7 metres deep at its deepest point, making it an excellent spot for those who want to try sea kayaking or take the family out on the water. Rent a kayak and explore the lake, which intriguingly has the remains of a large wooden fortress from the 1130s at the bottom. Thanks to the shallow water, you can see the old fortress with the naked eye.

Corporate clients and private individuals come here to experience one of Gotland's finest glass studios, and to try their hand at the art of glassblowing. Jennie and her staff work to create a fantastic activity for both children and adults, as well as for stag and hen dos or kick-off events.

Along the eastern coast, from Anga meadow in the north to Herta fishing village in the south, you can hike alongside vast sandy beaches, picturesque fishing villages, and cliffs with wide panoramas. This particular trail is 86 kilometres long, but there are more to choose from around the island, such as the 60km-long Pilgrimage trail St. Olav's Way and the 30km-long Klint Coast trail.

On the eastern coast, you'll find Katthammarsvik and nearby Ala Gård. At this welcoming farm next to the parish church you can partake in workshops focused on gardening, shop for antiques and egg tempera paints and pick your own flowers. Enjoy a coffee and homemade cake or pastry in the charming café before you leave.

Savannen is Sweden's first approved outdoor cinema, which means they have high standards for showing the film as it is intended to be shown. The season is short but sweet and lasts for about two months during late summer. The repertoire consists of both classics and new films.

Visiting a flea market on Gotland if pretty much obligatory. This one, near Stånga in southern Gotland, stocks a generous range of items. You can find design items, craftsmanship, and pre-loved odds and ends. The stock is continuously replenished, and the selection is frequently updated.

If you're visiting Gotland you must see the island's famous rauks - limestone seastacks - which are found all over Gotland. This one, Hammargage Hällar, can be found in the south and it's a beautiful spot where you can take a swim. Other places to see raukar include Gamla Hamn, Digerhuvud, Langhammar and Folhammar.

Cycling is the perfect way to see this relatively flat island. The southern coastal road, between Kettelviken and Hoburgen, is a beautiful cycling route with the wow factor. An activity suitable for families with small children, groups of friends and romantic couples.

You'll find this magical oasis on Tofta beach. Under the sun's rays, or the orange light of the sunset, you can not only eat and drink but also enjoy a variety of experiences. Swim, sauna, paddle, yoga, skate, get a massage or surf. A place that welcomes groups of friends and families as well as couples. If you want to stay overnight, you can book one of their glamping tents.

Gotland's leading auction company, Smågårde Auktioner, can be found not too far from Visby, in Tofta. Attend an auction and perhaps, if you're lucky, find something really nice. A mixed selection of furniture and other objects from Gotlandic homes and businesses is sold on site.

Are you visiting Gotland with children? Then Kneippbyn is a must-visit activity. Kneippbyn's summerland is inspired by Astrid Lindgren's stories and includes a real Ville Villekulla. Meet Pippi Longstocking, watch a theatre show, enjoy candy floss and popcorn, jump on the bouncy castle, and much more. In other words, a perfect destination for little ones with energy to burn. Besides the summerland, there's also a water park, adventure golf, and a sports facility in Kneippbyn.

The Lummelunda Cave is said to be Sweden's most impressive cave, shaped over at least 20,000 years and now open for visits. Just over four kilometres of the cave have been explored, but cave explorers are continually discovering new parts. Join a tour and embark on a journey 400 million years back in time, through spacious halls, corridors, and passages.

The islands of Stora and Lilla Karlsö are on the western side of Gotland. Accessible by boat, these islands offer beautiful, unique, and unspoilt nature surrounded by the Baltic Sea. Visitors can hike, explore the sights, encounter animals, discover plants, birds, fossils, and plenty of cultural history. Stora Karlsö offers accommodation and a restaurant, while Lilla Karlsö has simple cabins available.
